Have you ever wondered
what it’s like to be a VaughanTown volunteer?
For those of you who would love to take part in one of our programs, but simply don’t have time to commit to a six day program, here’s your solution: WeekendTown! This program is a reduced, intensive version of the original VaughanTown program where volunteers and participants come together for an unforgettable cultural and linguistic exchange! Sound appealing? Well here are the facts…
WeekendTown is essentially a shortened-version of our normal VaughanTown, taking place from Saturday morning through to Sunday evening. Venues are varied and normally based in popular Spanish cities that are easily accessible from international airports.
You'll have a fully packed schedule included and hotel accommodation for a night (Saturday), in an en-suite private room. We include a Welcome breakfast, lunch & dinner on Saturday, and breakfast & lunch on Sunday.
For WeekendTown, all participants make their own way to the venues but they are easy to get to. The program starts around 9am Saturday, and finishes after the closing ceremony around 7:30pm Sunday, leaving some time for those wanting to continue their journey that day.
This is an ideal experience to add-on to your holiday in Spain! Also for those who would like a ‘taster’ for doing a VaughanTown before signing up to a full week, or a weekend away for those already living in Spain.
WeekendTown Activities

ONE-TO-ONES
One to Ones are 50 minute conversations between one Volunteer and one Spaniard. The one to ones rotate on an hourly basis, allowing
MEALTIMES
Each volunteer will sit with a minimum of two Spanish participants during mealtimes, enjoying a relaxed conversation over some delicious Spanish dishes and wine.
Group Activities
The group activities which will take place are especially designed to help team building and conversation flow.
OPEN DISCUSSIONS
Intriguing discussion sessions, providing another opportunity for students and volunteers to engage.
ENTERTAINMENT HOUR
From 8-9 we will have one hour of entertainment; music, theatre, jokes, stories, presentations, karaoke...skies the limit! And you are the protagonists!
Locations
These are some of the WeekendTown locations you can expect to see:
Madrid
The NH Hotel Las Tablas is located just 14km from the centre of Madrid. It has excellent public transport access with a metro stop just 300m from the hotel. The hotel provides free WIFI and has an excellent restaurant and bar. The restaurant, where our participants and volunteers will mingle over breakfast and lunch, specializes in Spanish and international cuisine. All hotel guests can enjoy a visit to the hotel spa.
