THE PROGRAMOver the last three years, Vaughan Systems, in collaboration with the Menéndez Pelayo International University, has provided intensive one-week English classes to some 40,000 students who were awarded a scholarship by the Spanish Education Ministry. This has been a fantastic opportunity to extend quality English teaching to regions of Spain often neglected in the area of language training. Logistical and pedagogical support is provided from Madrid and there are also coordinators on-site in each location. The teacher usually works two weeks full-time and two weeks part-time each month. The first round of classes started in March/April in Santander and Valencia. Selected candidates come to Madrid for training and then move out to their destination city. PAYTeachers earn approximately €2,300 per month on a contract working 2 weeks full-time and 2 weeks part-time.
We do our best to take location preferences into consideration, but these cannot be guaranteed until completion of the training. This is due to the fact that there are a limited amount of vacancies on each site; therefore those teachers who train first get first choice on which site to work on. Corporate Language Trainers (Limited Vacancies)Teachers are all self-employed and bill us at the end of the month for the hours they have taught. Mosts positions are for Madrid, although there are some opportunities to work in other areas. Teachers give in-company classes, spending their days on factory premises, where they give classes in classrooms or meeting rooms. When you first start out, it’s very likely that you will be working in one office in the morning, another at lunch time and another in the evening, although many of our more experienced teachers work as “Implants”. An Implant works in one company from Monday to Thursday or Friday and frequently works over 40 hours a week. PAYWe pay more than most language training companies in Spain because we want the best. Our pay rate allows one to live well. Our teachers on Option 1 work between 20 and 45 hours per week, with the average at around 27 hours. Our teachers bill us at the end of the month for the hours that they have taught, as external suppliers, and they don't work under contract. All of them are self-employed (as a "one-man company"), and cover their own Social Security.
